Reconnect Retreat – For Writers

These retreats allow participants to design an experience, with as much or as little therapeutic work as feels useful, while at the same time enjoying an experience with a group of people who will share your journey.

We will start each day together in 90 minute creative process or a walk in the veld or the forest according to the specific needs of the group.  This will be an opportunity to connect, get grounded and perhaps check in about where you are at.  We will end each day with a 30/60 minute process to reflect on the day.

There will be opportunities during the day to join a deeper group process depending on the needs of the group. These processes may include family/systems constellations, dramatherapy, engaging with the wisdom of the natural environment, a walk to the labyrinth or forest bathing.

There will also be the options of doing a one-on-one process with Paula.  Alternatively you may wish to rest, walk on your own or with other group members.  We design the retreat for you in advance with the option to customise it as you go.

Retreat for Writers

Writers will follow the same structure as the regular retreat, however there will be opportunities to use creative process to get unstuck in the creative process, to share work and to find support in the group writing process.

Participants will enjoy simple, farm food and cosy accommodation.  .

Bursaries are available for all offerings.

The invitation is to think about what you earn and what the workshop is worth to you and place yourself on the scale.

The idea is that it should pinch enough that you value the investment and respect the service, but not punch so hard that you can’t recover.

If you pay higher up the scale it allows us to make our retreats accessible to a more diverse community.

Getting to The Rest
We are half way between Cape Town and Johannesberg (about 8 hours in either direction) half an hour off the N9 highway. We are an hour from Graaff-Reinet and 25 minutes from Nieu Bethesda.

To Drive: Email us for directions and check on the current state of the road and how your car will fare on the dirt roads.

Carpool to workshops: Join the event on the Facebook page and see who is keen to carpool. Email us to put you in touch with other drivers coming from your area.

Bus: Both Intercape and Translux stop in Graaff-Reinet. We will arrange to pick you up from the bus station and bring you to the farm directly or via a guest house (buses usually arrive at awkward times in the late or early hours.)
Email us to arrange this.

Fly: Catch a flight to Port Elizabeth and hire car to drive to the farm (this is a four hour drive).
Co-ordinate with other workshop participants who want to do the same. Email us for directions.
